How Do You Show Video ThroughA Creator Handle?

Alpha lettering lets the board stay present while your footage, stream scene, or layout shows through the letters themselves.

Alpha lettering is a new option in the Lettering panel. When you switch to it, the glyphs become transparent cutouts in the board — whatever is behind the board shows through the letter shapes instead of a filled color.

The board still flips and animates as normal. You can change the handle text, transition, and board color the same way you always would. This just changes how the characters themselves are drawn.

How to turn it on

Open the editor and find the Lettering panel in the right sidebar. Switch the text mode to Alpha and the current text will immediately change to the cutout treatment. It works with any board size and any transition.

Example: a single-row Alpha handle over the streamer asset, anchored bottom-center and looping in Rainbow Sweep while the footage still reads through the letters.

What it is good for

  • Creator handles displayed over stream footage or a video background
  • Starting-soon screens and lower-thirds where a solid board would block too much of the scene
  • Intro and outro title moments where footage or a background gradient should show through the text
  • Presentation slides and chapter cards where you want the background visible through the lettering
  • A few things worth knowing

The board panels stay solid — only the glyph shape opens up. This keeps the letters readable over busy backgrounds because the surrounding panel still provides contrast around each character.

Alpha lettering is available on all plan types. If you want to test it quickly, the creator graphics page has a live handle builder that opens straight into the editor with a transparent board treatment already set up.
